Looks like a piece of Nazi propaganda to me. Look how twisted the Jews look in the background and the finely chiselled features of Jesus.

I wrote this for a friend a few days ago and thought it may have some use here. I realize that this is only scratching the surface of the faith and hope I have not offended anybody.
The Hindu faith has affected millions of people for hundreds of years and re-emerged as a guiding light in contemporary times.
Colourful and often charismatic gurus helped create the vision of a cycle of life that we term as reincarnation.
The traditional and orthodox teachings of the Hindu were written probably between 800 and 600 BCE. There are said to be 10?000 original writings which are divided into different areas and are known as ?Vedas? (scriptures if you like).
Between the polytheistic world view (the belief that there are many Gods) to the lake of infinity that each of us is said to belong to (Brahman), there can be no doubt that these concepts have helped forge the spiritual vision of millions, and in the current so called ?new age? climate, the belief in reincarnation has gained immense popularity.
Without even knowing its origin, many have mentally acknowledged this theory as an essential and deeper truth.
Prime time television shows are seen to feature the generic hypnotherapist, helping to regress a subject to a previous life. Often the subject will recall a profound vision through the eyes of their former self, which then seems to colour their present day personality.
The 1960s stands out as the decade which created a boom in alternate versions of worship; blending Eastern mysticism with Western Christian dogma. Through that decade the age of the guru gained popular standing once more.
Then by the 1970s artists like The Beatles, Hawkwind and The Moody Blues each added their nod of approval to philosophies that would help shape the mind of future generations. Singing songs about past lives, cycles of life, and about rejection of the material world; these anthems helped educate and enthrall the mind.
Psychedelic drugs twisted perception of this reality into something that appeared to literally go beyond and touch the supernatural. With this heady cocktail of chemicals and the underpinning Eastern doctrines resonating through pop culture, the gurus spell was cast anew.
So then, what are the basic teachings of the Hindu?
? We each hold a spark of life called ?Atman? (think soul if you will). In fact, we are Atman to the Hindu.
? Atman is part of the universal wholeness known as Brahman. Brahman is everything and is classed as the universal spirit.
? Brahman represents the universe outside of the body and Atman represents the universe inside of the body and both are equally as important as each other.
? There is not a singular God (monotheism).
? There are many Gods; each representing aspects of our life and all creating a complete universal picture.
? To the Hindu there are 3 important deities to understand: Brahma ? The creator / Vishnu ? The sustainer / Shiva ? The destroyer.
? The actual aim of the Hindu is to attain divine status. This is achieved through the cycle of rebirth and in a sense to be reborn is to remain imperfect.
? Karma is an important factor to consider. Karma is seen as the energy that drives a man. If a man commits a selfish act he is said to have bad Karma. Bad Karma is to be avoided, this inhibits spiritual progress. Presumably, the greater amount of bad Karma one has in the bank at death, the less chance there is to link with the highest divine state.
? An inward focus is encouraged through meditation. A casting off of the material world around us and a centring of the mind is to be sought by an acolyte of the Hindu faith.
? The Hindu faith is fragmented into different philosophical schools, yet each retain the basic pillars of the faith. The variance being manifest through interpretation of those pillars.
? and there you have it. A bite size chunk of Hinduism for the beginner -

Aug 1 WT says Rutherford "Strong yet Humble"
by trumangirl ini just had to post this quote from a box on the first study article - "jehovah reveals his glory to humble ones".
august 1st 2004.. strong yet humble.
at the 1919 cedar point, ohio, usa, convention of the bible students (known today as jehovah's witnesses), 50-year-old j f rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms.

he was also genuinely humble before God, often reflecting that in his prayers at morning worship in Bethel
I find that very hard to believe. How can a man tell for sure that another man is humble during a public prayer? By it's very nature, a public prayer is a display before others and often makes a person 'act' by wearing a different mask.
If a man was truly humble would he not drop the title 'Judge' ?
I think the article is simply a reflection upon prominent society members using rose-tinted glasses. Really, it also goes to show that the organization has not moved away from being a partial personality cult.

The teeth thing is rather odd wouldn't you say old boy? Tis true in a fair few cases amongst the peasants, but those damned yanks (hehe) are far more superficial and materialistic than we elite who inhabit this dear island of ours. Hehehehe har har harrr har.
What a load of rot.
The monarchy - I gob in their general direction and cover any who support them with the same pungent spittle.

Was There Ever Any Rule That You Thought Was Silly In The Organization?
by minimus inthe rule on having "large gatherings" was stupid.
because some people abused a "christian get-together" that had a lot of people, we could only get together in smaller groups.

BEARDS - Silly, petty, stupid. Grrrrrr ...
One black brother got told off by the elders for having his hair clipped too short as well. It suited him and did not look thuggish. One of the body was actually going bald and clipped his remaining hair very short, surely this elder should have been made to wear a wig?

Was there really a global flood? (new publication reasoning)
by Simon inthe latest "keep on the watch" publication released at the district assembly really looks like a rehash of old material (and even old pictures ... they must be running out of paint or something!)..
one 'gem' caught my eye flicking through it.
how do you reason with people to convince them that the bible account of a global flood is real?.

A fictional character in the book
Well, that depends whether Jesus was fictional or not. I'd say he did exist to be honest.

We have a desire to live, to love, to create. That?s how God created us. Chance doesn?t care if we create, if we love, if we survive. What about music, art, literature? What inspires these people to create beauty? Beauty in nature (created for no other purpose but for our enjoyment-flowers, birds, a snow flake), a new born baby, the love for our children, family? Why do we have joy, agony, tears, laughter, pain, pleasure? Where does that desire come from? Why all the senses, taste, feel, see, hear? For no other reason than survival? Yet we use all these senses for survival and pleasure. All this is chance, all of life is one big cosmic accident, with no purpose? We are spiritual beings. Why should we be? What?s the point when all this is by chance?
Good points ..! I have wondered this myself when filled with doubt.
If we are simply an organism attempting to survive, then surely we would channel our vital energy towards the consummation of other life to feed ourselves, the host.
Witnessing acts of love towards other humans and even extending in many cases towards the environment and the animal kingdom helps to firm my belief that we have a unique part of us that defies the cold logic(?) of the evolutionist.
Now, the evolutionist may assert that human consciousness is simply extending out and feeling it's way through other areas of knowledge in order to expand outwards and find other branches to help protect our lineage. Which may sound reasonable. Yet weighed against the former argument of a creator implanting a desire for us to cherish and cradle aestheticism, which feels right?
To me, there is no warmth and love in the former argument.
The evolutionist would have mankind strip the universe part to acquire knowledge. Where as, I assert that using our basic intuition, we can find the deeper truths from within our adult frame.
Their cold and mechanical vision I do not wish to share.

For me, I believe that an almighty God kick-started the universe and built into every living organism the ability to adapt/evolve according to environment. I personally do not believe in cross-species evolution and have never witnessed evidence to persuade me of this theory.
I am still investigating my belief system and keep an open mind to other possibilities. I have to in order to remain neutral & reasonable.
I personally use intuition to discern God, otherwise I would be agnostic, as the counter arguments for intelligent design can twist my brain into a knot.
That is where I am at (currently).
It is nice to see a thread supporting creation for a change

Neutrality....
by PriestessLizzie ini've been reading this forum for a while now and finally decided to join.
i left the "truth" about 7 years ago for reasons i am not ready to go into at this time- mainly because i dont have the time to explain them at the moment.
though i do not believe entirely what the witnesses teach, i am surprised to see such anger and hatred towards them.

Don't take this forum too seriously. The participants have turned it into its own little cult. They'll help you primarily if you have decided to oppose JW's. If you are the least ambivalent they will attack with their own style of social pressure - ridicule.
Believe me I am talking from experience.
Hehe - I believe you. I've been coming here for a few years now and signed up only this year. This board is simply the same as every other busy community board IMO The only unique feature being the common link of the JW experience.
I do not always commit to threads myself because of the whole "ridicule thing" - I have some odd views I guess, but rarely share them here.
I do enjoy reading the threads with real meat - even JCs monologues have a certain appeal.

Reading the bible but not applying it to your every day life is much like..
by azaria in...reading a recipe book but never actually trying the recipes.
i feel that in a way thats what ive sometimes done.
i do believe that the bible is a guide on how to live but too many of us think that all we need is the knowledge and were all set.

They hope to eventually have a 'greater israel', from the euphretes to egypt, as described in the bible. Can't you jsut feel the love? Such a good guide, the bible.
Hardly. If the nation Israel embraced the complete works of the Bible, then they would realize that they are not God's chosen nation. etc etc
By the way - I agree with the original poster. If a person learns to apply the basic moral principles expressed, then yes, for the most part, we would deal with each other in a more loving way. Nothing wrong with that. Better than the chaotic moral message pumped through the world media and education system.
